SuffolkNews Podcast: Headmaster of Culford School near Bury St Edmunds sacked for ‘gross misconduct and breach of trust’

In today’s podcast, the headmaster of a Suffolk independent school has been dismissed from his role.

Julian Johnson-Munday has been sacked as headmaster of Culford School following an independent investigation.

A letter to parents today said the probe, conducted by an independent lawyer, found he had breached a number of the school’s internal policies and constituted ‘gross misconduct and a breach of trust that was incompatible with his leadership role’. The allegations did not concern pupils.

Also, firefighters spent a portion of last night battling a large factory fire near Eye.

About eighteen fire crews, including teams from Ipswich, Woodbridge, Stowmarket, Debenham and Eye, an aerial ladder platform, water carrier and command support vehicle, were alerted to the scene at Langton Green at 8.52pm.

Hose reels, breathing equipment, thermal imaging cameras and small tools were used to tackle the flames.

And finally, a proposed Sainsbury’s Local store on a Bury St Edmunds housing estate could open 24 hours a day, it has been revealed.

Sainsbury’s has applied for a licence for its proposed convenience store in Lady Miriam Way, occupying one of two units on the Lark Grange area of Moreton Hall.

West Suffolk Council is considering plans for the shop, including a service yard, 19 parking spaces and landscaping.
