Henry Smith Country Music Festival to come to Stonham Barns Leisure Park, in Stonham Aspal, near Stowmarket, in April, June and September

Suffolk is set for three mega weekends of country music this year at a holiday destination.

Stonham Barns Park, in Stonham Aspal, near Stowmarket, will be hosting the Henry Smith’s Country Music Festival in April, June and September.

The first festival is scheduled for April 5 to 7, and will feature guests including the Ian Highland Band, Warren Dewitt, Nashville Numbers, Ainsley Kirkman, Normand Boland and Kenny Junior, along with Smith’s own band, the Henry Smith Dreams Band.

It will all be a celebration of Henry’s recovery and return to music following his diagnosis of Spasmodic Dystonia.

Janice Rowles, of Stonham Barns Park, said: “Suffolk is the perfect setting for country music, and we are delighted to be inviting Henry Smith back to perform at Stonham Barns Park.

“He is such a talent and such a personality to have battled his voice challenge head on and won. It is such an honour to have him booked to perform here for three separate festivals.”

Henry has sung all over the UK, as well as travelling to Europe and parts of the USA with his band.

In 2017, he noticed a problem with his voice as he was unable to hit some notes whilst singing, which then progressed to the odd word which would not come out of his mouth. Talking then became a problem, before his voice went completely.

Dark years followed where Henry could not do what he loved the most, perform on stage and entertain his fans. He received treatments via the NHS including hypnosis and botox injections on his larynx, all of which had short lived success.

But one day, in 2022, he woke up and his voice made a sound, and after some careful progress he is back singing.

Ms Rowles continued: “Bookings are coming in already and so we would advise anyone interested to book early to avoid disappointment.

“Country fans can witness this amazing man singing his favourite songs at The Barn at Stonham Barns Park as he continues to celebrate his recovery.”

The festival will also showcase up and coming artists including Theresa Coupland, Jimmy Gregory and Cassie B (A Patsy Cline Tribute).

A weekend festival ticket including camping is £100 for one pitch for two adults. Additional tickets for extra campers and walk in day tickets are £20 per person per day.

The June festival will take place from June 14 to 16, whilst the September festival will be from August 30 to September 1.

Further special guests will be announced closer to the time.
