Adding art to your walls at home is a perfect way to break up empty spaces and fill your home with your own personality. By finding key pieces that work with the items in your home, you can brighten up your space in a way to strike up conversations when people visit.

Wall art is important to help you break up the colours and fabrics in your home. But making it personal to you is even more important. I have compiled five wall art styles you should consider adding to your home.

1 I’m a huge lover of bright floral prints and if I had my say so, my whole house would be full of them! But one of the main reasons people avoid bright clashing colours is “How do I make it fit with my room?”. Well, ladies and gentlemen, I am here to tell you that bright, in-your-face prints such as this are NOT supposed to blend in. You want pieces like this to stand out from all the other items in your home. If it doesn’t spark up a conversation, what is the point of displaying it on the wall?

2 Adding leaf prints to your home is the perfect way to add greenery to your spaces without actually having to water them! I always struggle to keep any pot plants alive in my home, so filling the walls was the best way to make my living room into a plant den! Plus green goes with most colour schemes and is easily incorporated.

3 Adding simple typography prints to your walls can give a warm modern edge to your family areas. By finding prints you can personalise with dates and locations, you can really make a blank space in your wall into a heart-warming memory. I personally have some in the bedroom with the important dates for me and my other half. Looking at it gives you a warm feeling. Plus it’s a way to never forget your anniversary!

4 Black and white photos and prints can give a sophisticated look to your walls. If you pair black and white prints with a frame wall all in the same monochrome colours it can give a modern striking effect without looking too cluttered and in your face. By adding your own family photos in black and white alongside can bring a personal family touch to the area.

5 I’ve always been a fan of illustration images on walls. I find they are the perfect way to fill up empty spaces in your home without it looking too cluttered. I have slowly built up a huge collection of illustrations from my favourite artists and tattoo artists. You can switch them up as much as you want without people really noticing. Sometimes the simplest drawings are the most beautiful.
