The Botanist, with a bar in Ipswich, launches new cocktail menu after being chosen for Channel 4 show First Dates

A bar chain has launched a new temporary cocktail menu to celebrate being selected as the host venue for a popular Channel 4 dating show.

For its 10th anniversary season, First Dates, hosted by Fred Siriex, chose The Botanist’s bar in Bath to serve as the scene where the show’s hopeful’s try to find love.

To mark the series’ launch earlier this month, the bar chain’s mixology team created a selection of love-themed cocktails, which have been available at all 24 of its venues since January 2.

This includes its only Suffolk bar, in Ipswich town centre.

A spokeswoman for The Botanist said one cocktail contains an ‘interactive surprise’ for customers.

The Candyfloss Royale, made using St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur, strawberry and elderflower cordial and Cava and served in a potion-like bottle, contains a tag with a QR code.

The drink will be served alongside a glass containing strawberry candy floss.
