Hadleigh business EriVica Cakes moves to online-only model after closing high street outlet

A cake-making business is confident of a bright future, as it moves to a digital-only model – but has asked for patience during the transition this month.

EriVica Cakes has sought to reassure customers that it will continue operating as normal through online orders, with its physical outlet in the centre of Hadleigh set to close on January 15.

The business has been a fixture on the High Street since it was launched by Terri Newman in August 2018, having been inspired by her late parents, Erica and Vic, whom the shop was named after.

Specialising in bespoke celebration cakes, Terri revealed that it was no longer practical to maintain a brick-and-mortar shop, but she is excited to be going online and interacting with customers through her website and social media.

To make her creations, she will now rent a kitchen at Hadleigh Town Hall on a case-by-case basis.

However, she explained that capacity for taking orders in January will be significantly reduced, while she works to pack up the shop, and said the business phone number is also likely to change.

Terri said: “You may have seen that we are moving online – what this means is we are just giving up the shop.

“We will continue trading and you will be able to get us through all of the usual channels. It’s all really exciting.

“The problem we have is that we vacate the premises on January 15, so we won’t be taking that many orders, because we have to shift lots of stuff.

“Please don’t think we are gone. It’s going strong. It’s just that we really don’t need the premises any more.

“We will be working from the town hall kitchen on an as-and-when required basis, rather than having the shop open all the time, even when we don’t have cakes.

“I look forward to seeing you all soon, and hearing from you for your orders, but please bear with us for January. Once January is done, we will be back up and running full tilt.”
