Thousands of homes in Suffolk without power due to Storm Henk including in areas near Stowmarket, Bury St Edmunds, Halesworth and in Leiston





Thousands of homes in Suffolk have been left without power due to Storm Henk – with firefighters called to several incidents.

Among the incidents logged with UK Power Networks, 212 residents are affected in the Coddenham area, 378 in Debenham area, 440 in villages near Halesworth, 765 in Leiston, 533 in Stanton, Ixworth and Conyer’s Green area and 516 in Euston.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 6.03pm to Lammas Close, in Bardwell, to a power cable which has been blown into a tree.

The area has been cordoned off and a crew from Ixworth is standing by.

Meanwhile, a crew from Bury St Edmunds was alerted at 6.52pm to Thetford Road, in Ixworth Thorpe, where a power cable has been snapped by a fallen tree.

UK Power Networks is at the scene.

In Brandon at London Road, with the junction of Church Road, a power cable has broken and is being blown around in the high winds.

A crew from Brandon is at the scene as well as UK Power Networks and a request has been made to close the road.

In a statement on its website, a UK Power Networks spokesman said: “We are experiencing significant fault volumes in parts of our patch as a result of Storm Henk.

“Our team are working hard out in challenging conditions to restore your power as quickly and safely as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this may be causing.”

Using the UK Power Networks incident map, here are some other electrical issues hitting parts of the county:

BUNGAY

The NR34 9 and NR35 2 postcodes have been affected by a high voltage overhead electricity line fault.

Around 273 properties have been hit with the power cut.

With reference number INCD-416444-Z, the power cut was first reported at 6.15pm and has an estimated time for power to be restored between midnight and 1am.

BURY ST EDMUNDS

Around 32 homes in the IP29 5 and IP33 2 have been affected by a high voltage overhead electricity line fault.

The incident, with reference number INCD-416452-Z, was first reported at 6.21pm with an estimated time for power to be restored between midnight and 1am tomorrow (January 3).

CHARSFIELD

Engineers working hard to fix a yet unknown issue in the IP13 7 postcode.

A yet to be confirmed number of homes have been affected.

Reference number INCD-16236-O was reported at 7.38pm, with a time yet to be confirmed when power will be restored.

CHEDISTON

A number of homes in the IP19 0 postcode have been affected after a fault on electrical equipment.

The number of customers affected is yet to be confirmed, with the power cut reported at 7.35pm today.

The reference number for this power cut is INCD-83886-C

CLARE

Around 740 properties in the CB9 7,CO10 8 and KT2 7 postcodes have been affected by a high voltage overhead electricity line fault.

With incident number INCD-416482-Z, it was first reported at 6.53pm and power is estimated to be restored between 12.30am and 1.30am tomorrow (January 3).

COTTON

Properties in the IP14 5,IP14 6 and IP23 7 postcodes have been affected by a power cut which is currently under investigation.

The power cut, with a reference number of INCD-416534-Z, was first reported at 7.56pm.

The estimated time for power to be restored is between 1.30am and 2.30am tomorrow (January 3).

GREAT BLAKENHAM

The potentially affected postcodes of IP2 8,IP6 0,IP6 8,IP6 9 and IP8 3 have been affected by a high voltage overhead electricity line fault.

The reported power cut of the 293 properties started at around 6.13pm today.

With reference number INCD-416443-Z, the fault is estimated to be fixed between midnight and 1am tomorrow (January 3).

GROTON

C06 4,CO3 3,CO6 4 and CO6 5 postcodes and 861 homes are affected after a high voltage overhead electricity line fault.

First reported 6.12pm, with a reference number of INCD-416441-Z, is set to be repaired between midnight and 1am tomorrow (January 3).

HESTLEY GREEN

An unknown number of homes in the IP23 7 postcode have been affected by an overhead electricity line fault which has caused a power cut.

Reported at 7.23pm and with incident number INCD-416500-Z it is yet to be confirmed when the fault will be fully fixed.

IPSWICH

17 homes in the IP10 0 postcode have been affected by a high voltage overhead electricity line fault.

Reported at 5.46pm, with reference number INCD-416414-Z, has an estimated restoration time of between midnight and 1pm tomorrow (January 3).

LITTLE WRATTING

Around 115 homes in the CB9 7 and CO10 8 postcodes have been affected since 4.56pm.

Engineers are investigating a high voltage overhead electricity line fault, with reference number INCD-416364-Z, and power is estimated to be restored between 10pm and 11.30pm today.

LOWER HACHESTON

Around 29 homes are without power in the IP13 0 postcode due to a high voltage overhead electricity line fault.

With incident number INCD-416417-Z, the fault was reported at 5.49pm and is set to be be fixed midnight and 1am tomorrow (January 3).

MELTON

Around 285 properties in the IP12 3 postcode have been affected by a high voltage overhead electricity line fault – with reference number INCD-416507-Z.

This power cut was reported at 7.31pm, with an estimated time for power to be restored between 1am and 2am tomorrow.

PEASENHALL

Around 147 homes have been affected in the IP19 0 and IP19 9 postcodes due to a high voltage overhead electricity line fault.

The power cut was reported at 7.34, with an estimated fix of the fault (which has reference number INCD-416510-Z) set to be between between 1.30am and 2.30 am tomorrow (January 3).

RISBY

An unknown number of properties in the IP28 6 postcode have been affected by a fault.

First reported at 7.34pm, with a reference number of INCD-16232-O, an unknown number of people have been affected and it is currently unsure when it will be restored.
