Ipswich proposals to build four more flats at Giles Place in Princes Street

Four more flats could be built in a vacant office block in Ipswich town centre.

Edco Properties Ltd is seeking permission from Ipswich Borough Council to create four new apartments at Giles Place, in Princes Street.

The four-storey building formerly housed insurance group Direct Line.

Four floors have been earmarked for development – and if approved, the applicant wants to build one flat on each.

The ground, first, second and third floors would see new dwellings, while the basement and fourth floors would be unaffected.

Each flat will only contain one bedroom.

The applicant said the rest of the building was being converted into 35 flats, the plans for which were approved in 2021.

Plans to turn the remaining floor space into 12 flats were rejected by Ipswich Borough Council in December.
