Cartoonist John Elson casts his eye over the week's news

There's only one story in the news – if you forget the Conservative leadership campaign, the cost of living crisis and the war in Ukraine – and that's out perennial favourite . . . the weather!
And, of course, Bury Free Press cartoonist John Elson has focused on that this week.
Here's his take on the continuing heatwave . . .
John, a self-taught artist, has been drawing cartoons for newspapers for nearly 20 years.
He draws the cartoons digitally using a stylus and large art tablet. His cartoon today is sponsored by specialist insurers The Assist Group
He also attends festivals, weddings and corporate events drawing live caricatures.
