Boreham road sign on A131 heading to Sudbury misspells Chelmsford

A road sign heading towards a Suffolk town contains a spelling error of a nearby city.

The sign on the A131, on the Boreham Interchange, has incorrectly spelt Chelmsford without an ‘f’.

The error has been spotted by those heading towards Sudbury and Essex County Council has apologised for the typo.

Essex Highways said: "We apologise to local residents about this unfortunate mistake.

“The mistake was not present in the design that Essex Highways signed off, but appeared during printing and the developer is aware that it needed to be replaced as a priority.

"The replacement will be installed as soon as possible."
