Barking Road, in Needham Market, reopens following flood repair work by Suffolk Highways

A road notorious for flooding has been reopened by Suffolk Highways today following work over the last week.

This morning Suffolk Highways confirmed the closure at Barking Road, Needham Market, has now been removed.

Yesterday, a Suffolk Highways spokesperson said work being undertaken on Barking Road was to ‘clear the water from the road and try to get the drainage systems running’.

They explained: ““We will be doing a more thorough follow-up of all the drainage assets and a further clean of the ditches as planned works next year.”

Earlier this week a resident and councillor for the area shared their concerns about traffic delays and future flooding.

Suffolk Highways said all remaining equipment will be collected today, Friday, December 15.
