Ipswich Town reportedly close to signing Brighton & Hove Albion winger Jeremy Sarmiento after Ecuadorian international recalled from West Brom spell

Ipswich Town are said to be close to completing the signing of winger Jeremy Sarmiento on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion.

This was reported by Ecuadorian journalist Maria Jose Flores who stated that if Town are to achieve promotion to the Premier League then the loan can be extended for another year.

The 21-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan at West Brom where he featured 20 times for the Baggies in the Championship, making seven starts and scoring two goals, but was recalled by his parent club yesterday.

He has also made 13 appearances for Ecuador and played 19 times for Brighton across the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons.

Reports from Fabrizio Romano and The East Anglian Daily Times have also linked Sarmiento to Portman Road.

The January transfer window opened for clubs yesterday and Town boss Kieran McKenna recently stated that the club will look to bolster the side in ‘a few positions’ and ‘the forward areas is one of them’.
