A143 shut in Stradishall, between Bury St Edmunds and Haverhill, after two-car crash





A key route has been closed and an air ambulance called after a two-car crash.

Police were alerted by the ambulance service to the incident on the A143 in Stradishall, between Bury St Edmunds and Haverhill, just before 8.20am.

A woman from one of the cars has been taken to hospital by land ambulance with injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing. For an update on this incident, click here.

An air ambulance, land ambulance and the fire service have been called.

The road is closed from the Bury St Edmunds side.

A fire service spokesperson said a female casualty was trapped, with crews using small tools to free them from the vehicle and they were left in the care of the ambulance service.

A second female casualty, who was not trapped and was out of the vehicle when crews arrived, was also in the care of the ambulance service, they said.

Three fire crews attended from Clare, Haverhill and Wickhambrook.
