Bury St Edmunds councillor Patrick Chung does the honours and launches refurbished Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care in Abbeygate Street





An opticians in Bury St Edmunds looked to a loyal customer to officially launch its refurbished store.

Patrick Chung, a councillor on West Suffolk Council and Bury St Edmunds Town Council, performed the honours at Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care in Abbeygate Street, where he received a gift to mark the occasion and to recognise his loyal custom.

The newly-refitted store features the latest digital eye examination equipment. Customers can also choose from an extensive, updated range of frames, including a larger selection of the latest designer names.

Branch manager Jan Parker said: “We have invested in the store and wanted to mark its upgrade in style.

“Patrick has entrusted his eye care to us for more than 30 years. He’s a wonderful, outgoing customer who’s always smiling when he visits us, which is much appreciated.

“Customers are at the heart of everything we do, and this important ethos has remained in place since the family business was established. We look forward to welcoming new and existing customers into the branch to experience what 85 years of eye and hearing care knowledge looks like.”

Mr Chung was honoured to be asked to reveal the store’s new look. He said: “The refurbished store is fantastic and it was a lovely occasion – I enjoyed every minute.

“I’ve been going to Scrivens for a long time and always receive excellent and personal service from the whole team. Everyone’s so friendly and knowledgeable.”

Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care is a family-run business, which was established in 1938 and is celebrating its 85th anniversary this year.

It has 169 high-street stores in towns and cities across England and Wales, with 1,000 employees.
