Health Awareness Day |
|
Visitors to the Solar store at Combs
Ford were offered the chance to have their blood pressure monitored on the spot
by trained Red Cross volunteers. The aim of the exercise was to raise
public awareness of the potential risk of stroke and heart attack posed to
those with high pressure. More than a hundred members of the
public – most of whom did not regularly pay any attention to their blood
pressure – were tested during the day. Several were told that their levels were
significantly above the advisable limits, while one person’s reading was so
dangerously high that he was advised he should consult his doctor the very next
day. |
